More extended trading for NSW venues
Longer liquor trading hours have been confirmed for special events across NSW for 2023. Hotels and registered clubs can now trade for longer to celebrate a number of special events across NSW in 2023. The next day of extended trading will be the Sydney World Pride Opening Ceremony next Friday, 24 February 2023 for certain suburbs in the Inner West, City of Sydney and the Woollahra local government areas.

The extended trading hours apply only to drinks sold on premises, not takeaway alcohol sales. Venues already approved to trade during or beyond the extended hours can operate as usual.
Hotels and clubs must still comply with any individual trading restrictions or other special conditions that apply to their liquor licence.
L&GNSW has released a new self-pour code of practice
A self-pour alcohol system allows patrons to walk up and pour their own alcoholic drinks from any of the available taps. However, while this may provide convenience for patrons, it may also increase the risks around RSA and compliance with the liquor laws if it is not well managed.
To address these risks, Liquor & Gaming NSW has released a new self-pour alcohol system code of practice. This code of practice applies to all venues that operates a self-serve tap or taps, as part of a self-pour alcohol system and will help guide licensees on how to use this technology while meeting responsible service of alcohol obligations. All licensees using self-pour alcohol systems must comply with the code as part of their licence conditions.
